Can gratitude increase profits? 10 gratitude techniques for entrepreneurs

Read any self-improvement book or search any entrepreneur’s Pinterest news feed, sooner or later you will come upon something about GRATITUDE. Is gratitude the latest buzz word or is there an actual link between being grateful and being a good entrepreneur?

Most of the entrepreneurs I know are naturally grateful people BUT…when fear or stress kicks in, they can easily loose sight of the many things they should be grateful for.

Gratitude is a very powerful process. When we are grateful, fear disappears and abundance appears. However, when we are fearful, the feelings of lack, inadequacy and jealously take over.

A yogi or Buddha once said “Whatever you put your attention on grows stronger.” Meaning, if you are constantly feeling stress about money, that feeling of lack will grow and it becomes increasingly difficult to make more money.

But practicing gratitude can shift your energy and attitude. Studies have shown that gratitude increases the production of serotonin and dopamine, making you feel happier, more content and satisfied.

Be a grateful entrepreneur

Be grateful for what you have, even the little things, and more will come to you. So even when you are feeling stressed or disappointed about a launch or a marketing campaign, can you find something to be grateful for?

  • If you only have 2 clients, be thankful for those two amazing people that are supporting your business and love your products
  • If you only made $100 last week, be overwhelmingly excited that your business paid you for doing what you love
  • If you only have 30 people on your mailing list, be thankful to those people who open your newsletter to read what you have to say each month

10 Ways to practice Gratitude in your Business:

  • Send a hand-written thank you note to a favourite client once per week
  • Send a birthday card to each client thanking them for your relationship and with them a special day. Send them a $5 gift card to treat themselves to a coffee
  • Profile a favourite supplier or partner on your website telling your followers about all the amazing work they have done for you and link to their site or Facebook Page
  • Send your clients free stuff! For example, send them a copy of your favourite ebook, a recipe, a coupon code for a discount on your products
  • Write in your Gratitude Journal EVERY night before going to bed. Be specific…don’t write “I’m thankful for my health.” Write “I’m thankful for the energy I had today to do all my errands after work”
  • Practice Gratitude Affirmations before you get out of bed in the morning
  • Give a portion of your profits back to your favourite charity
  • Write a glowing review for another entrepreneur online
  • Take a photo of something you are grateful for every week and post it to your social media networks
  • At dinner time with the family or out with friends, ask everyone at the table what they are grateful for in their day

Remember gratitude is a choice, a practice, an attitude
